Over the past two decades environmental degradation, invasion of exotic species and overfishing caused the rapid decline of Caspian sturgeon including the loss of the 90 percent of the Beluga population. This environmental situation prompted the founders of Sturgeon Aquafarms LLC to initiate breeding the original five species in the US. The aquafarm has successfully established control of the sustainable caviar and meat production for interstate commerce and export.
